Which Nigerian Investment Fits Which Goal?
Every calculator here answers the same underlying question — what will my money really return? — but each instrument suits a different job. A quick orientation before you pick:
- —Emergency fund or idle cash: a money market fund — daily liquidity with top yields around 22.09% p.a. (indicative, variable, 10% WHT applies).
- —A goal within a year: Treasury Bills (364-day discount rate currently 17.66%, auto-updated from CBN) or a fixed deposit (best indicative 12-month bank rate 16%) — both taxed at 10% WHT.
- —Steady income for 2–3 years: FGN Savings Bonds — fixed quarterly coupons at 14.72% (2yr) / 15.72% (3yr) per the July 2026 DMO offer, tax-exempt, from ₦5,000.
- —Long-term growth: mutual funds — higher potential returns with year-to-year variability; returns are not fixed or promised.
- —A naira hedge: dollar funds — USD yields up to about 9% p.a. with explicit exchange-rate scenarios, since the currency move usually matters more than the yield.
Unsure between two? The Investment Comparator puts any pair head-to-head after tax, the Goal Planner works backwards from a target amount, and the Tax Calculator shows exactly what 10% WHT does to each option. Every calculator page carries its full risk profile, rate provenance and versioned methodology.
